Culture & War History Experience
Six touring days across Alotau, Sanaroa Island, and the Trobriand Islands — built on Tumbuna Tours’ established WWII and cultural expertise.
Day 1 extends Tumbuna Tours’ real, currently-operating 3-hour WWII bus tour ($200/adult, 5.0 rated) and hosted cultural show into a multi-day cruise format.
DAY 1
Alotau: WWII History & Local Life
A WWII Battle of Milne Bay tour around Alotau, a visit to the local market, and a relaxed BBQ. Overnight crossing to East Cape that evening.
DAY 2
Nuwamuli Cultural Village & Tawali Dancers
Visit the skull caves at Nuwamuli, learn local history from the community, and watch performances by the Tawali dancers. Depart East Cape that evening toward Sanaroa.
DAY 3
Sanaroa Island: Cultural Immersion
A full day of cooking, storytelling, and community interaction on Sanaroa. Depart that evening for the Trobriand Islands.
DAY 4 & 5
The Trobriand Islands
Arriving mid-afternoon on Day 4 after the crossing from Sanaroa — a half-day to settle in, with Day 5 as the first full day. Learning the traditional Tapioka dance, tasting local food, and hearing the legend of Kasabwaileta and the story of the early missionaries who reached this region.
DAY 6
Final Day: Water Activities & Farewell Feast
Picnics, BBQ, water sports, fishing and spearfishing, and sightseeing, closing with a final feast before departing Trobriand Islands for Alotau.

Full transit schedule: Alotau→East Cape (55km, ~7.3 hrs, overnight after Day 1) • East Cape→Sanaroa (~95km, ~12.7 hrs, overnight after Day 2) • Sanaroa→Trobriand (150km, ~20 hrs, departs evening Day 3, arrives mid-afternoon Day 4) • Trobriand→Alotau direct return (300km, ~40 hrs, departs evening Day 6, arrives Day 8 mid-morning). Note: because the Sanaroa→Trobriand crossing lands guests at Trobriand mid-afternoon rather than in the morning, Day 4 is realistically a half-day of touring — Day 5 is the first full day there.
